Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Laboratory Service, the Clinical Lab Tech is responsible for planning and providing high quality patient diagnostic information in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and operating principles of the hospital. Accountable for ensuring that appropriate diagnostic information is provided in accordance with the highest professional standards in accuracy, speed and consistent quality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for performing clinical tests on human blood, urine, and body fluid, and releasing results to the Hospital electronic system.

2. Monitors and ensures specimen integrity and acceptability for testing.

3. Evaluates test results to ensure that accurate levels of analytical performance are maintained.

4. Responsible for the evaluation of internal quality control in accordance with regulatory requirements and perform corrective action as necessary.

5. Reviews all laboratory reports for accuracy, takes necessary corrective action in consultation with the Laboratory Supervisor.

6. Responsible for performance of all required laboratory instruments maintenance, review and store of documentation for all instruments.

7. Assists the Supervisor in maintenance of lab reagents and supplies.

8. Assists the Supervisor in ensuring competence of other staff for point-of-care testing and in maintaining supplies for such testing.

9. Assists the Supervisor as appropriate in all lab-related quality assurance activities.

10. Participates in other hospital activities and committees as needed.

Job Requirements:

Education, Experience and Skills

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited College or University, or BS degree in Biology, Chemistry/Biochemistry or any other related fields.
• At least one (1) year working experience as a Clinical Laboratory generalist (can be combined with educational experience if graduated with the major of Medical Laboratory Science).

Certification, Registration, or Licensure required by the Job

• MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
